Liu Xuan's watercolor paintings are known for figures, thanks to his solid basic training in the art academy in his early years. The techniques are exquisite, the shapes are precise, the brushstrokes are delicate, the meanings are profound, and they are popular and close to life. From some of his works, we can see his exploration of innovation in watercolor painting techniques.

"Woman on Horseback" has the style of Chinese fine brushwork. "'Surrealism' is not what I advocate, but I have to be able to paint." Liu Xuan said that he painted a pair of old leather shoes better than Leng Jun.

Painter Zhou Mi commented: "Liu Xuan's watercolor paintings in the 1990s have reached maturity and beauty, and he has a precise grasp of light and shadow and techniques. In recent years, he has picked up the watercolor brush again, and he can paint fish, vegetables, fruits, and vegetables. It is approachable and interesting, and it is worth savoring carefully."

Painter Si Hongmiao commented: "The color, composition, the grandeur of the big picture in the subtle details, and the setting of the atmosphere make people feel directly touched at a glance."

A group of "Tibetan humanistic photos" aroused great interest from the audience, and the on-site response was strong.

Wang Ningxiu said: "The brushwork is delicate and the meaning is profound." Da Kang said: "Through a pair of old lamas and young lamas, and three young lamas facing different directions, it shows people 'where they come from, where they are now, and where they will go in the future', which is profound and thoughtful."

The audience also highly praised Liu Xuan's "Still Life Sketches". Livia Yeung said:
